How often should my pet have an exam?

We recommend getting your pet in yearly for a full exam, because this helps us keep track of your pet's health as well as to catch various health conditions early on.

Why is heartworm testing and prevention important?

Heartworm positive cases are increasing in the Northern Colorado area. This is a parasite carried by mosquitos, and can be fatal if it's not diagnosed and treated. We recommend year-round prevention, because this is much easier on the wallet than treating heartworm disease. Because it can be dangerous for your dog to take prevention if they are positive, we require yearly testing before refilling the prescription.

Is there an injectable form of heartworm prevention?

Yes! The injectable form we carry is ProHeart12. This is a single injection that lasts a year, and requires a negative heartworm test before administration. It is only for dogs, and the dose/price is calculated based on weight. If you want the ProHeart12 injection for your dog, they need to be at least a year old. This is a great option if you struggle to remember to give their monthly chew on time or if your dog really doesn't like the chews! The only downside is that it doesn't contain the dewormers that the oral versions provide.

How do I get perscription refills?

We can refill your prescriptions in our clinic if you give us a call with 24 hour notice, or you can submit a refill request through our online pharmacy. If you go through our online pharmacy, your pet's prescription will be shipped straight to your house in 3-5 business days!

Please make sure you plan ahead and call us several days before the end of the bottle, so that your pet won't have to go a day without their medication.

What food brands do you recommend?

Our favorite companies to recommend are Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina Pro Plan, and Eukanuba!

We also recommend against feeding grain free diets for many different reasons. Check out this link to learn about how grain free diets can affect your dog's heart.

What payment platforms do you accept?

We accept both CareCredit and Scratchpay as a our payment options to help make caring for your pet a little easier.
